We are expecting a Category 2 typhoon (Luis) over our mission on the evening of Sunday, September 14 through the early hours of Monday, September 15. We do not anticipate a lot of structural damage, but do expect wind, rain and flooding.
Our missionaries are prepared with 72 hour kits and those in low-lying or flood prone areas have been moved to areas of safety. We will stay in close contact with all missionaries through our established channels of communication. I will post updates here, but we may be dealing with power outages for a period of time. The site Weather Underground is an excellent source for following the storm.
Thank you for your prayers sent our way, for the mission and missionaries, and for the dear people of the Philippines.
Dear President and Sister Rahlf thank you so much for the update and for all your efforts to keep our missionaries safe. We know the Lord is mindful of you and all the beautiful people of the Philippines. Our prayers are in earnest for your safety. May the Lord bless and keep you all safe. Love Paul and Christine Hirst
