Hurrah for Israel! Arriving Missionaries, February 26, 2014

Wednesday February 26, 2014--9:52 AM
We watch the plane touch down and then wait for what seems hours for the first glimpse of our newest missionaries.  It's not hard to spot them--they are the ones with the brightest countenances and energy (even the ones from the Provo MTC, who have been awake for about 40 hours now).  Airport regulations prevent us from meeting them inside the building, so we have to stand across the street until they come out.  It is so good to see them!

The first sighting!
Elder Medeiros, Sister Jones, Sister Hunsaker and Elder Brandon

Followed closely by
Sister Muagutu, Sister Morente, Sister Jamisola and Sister DeVeyra
Sister Muagutu and Sister Seumanu
Sister Morente, Sister De Veyra
Elder Baquiran and Elder Gumayao
Joyous Sisters!

After arriving back at the Mission Home, we take pictures, have lunch and then begin orientation with the assistants, Sister Rahlf and the senior couples that work in the mission office.  Each missionary also has an individual interview and welcome with President Rahlf.
The best newest missionaries anywhere!

Hurrah for Israel!

After interviews and orientation, we have a special meeting to meet their new companions/trainers.   And then it's time to gather luggage and pillows and travel to their first area.  It's a full and memorable day!

Heaven smiles on the Philippines Cauayan Mission at the close of a truly wonderful day

Chosen by God to serve Him below,
To ev'ry land and people we'll go,
Standing for truth with fervent accord,
Teaching His holy word.

  1. Dear Lori,
I have been thinking about you and your mission alot lately. So I decided I needed to track you down, well at least as much as I can while residing in Highland. Anyway, what a treat it was to not only find the mission address, but also your well written, helpful and informative blog, and hear your kind generouse voice through out the text. You look truey radiant and gorgeously beautiful! I can tell you are working very hard. The missionaries all look so happy in those beautiful pictures! I am assuming that you and George are the photographers. Well done! I have to say that your numerous, and well represented pictures must do alot of mother's heart's good. They probably say their prayers every night and thank Heavenly Father for sending their son or daughter to be under the tender, thoughtful stewardship. Anyway, I saw your blog and couldn't resist responding. I pray for you and George and your missionaries. It looks like great things are happening in the Philippines! As a very good friend once said (way back when) "Stay Gold Ponyboy (Lori) ) Stay Gold" Take care dear friend, you and George and all your precious missionaries are in my prayers.
    Love Always,
    Cindy
P.S. This may also serve as a Happy Birthday, just in case your Birthday card does not reach you in time, know that on your special day alot of people are thinking of you with love and thanksgiving in their heart for the blessing you have been and continue to be in their lives. Everyone needs a good friend to help them navigate life and enjoy the journey. You have done both. So many good memories are wrapped up with you and your whole family. Thank you dear friend and have a very Happy Birthday, you wise "mature woman" you!
